Plaster meeting drywall inside the same room

In an altered village house it is common for one wall of a room to be original plaster and another to be drywall from a later addition. They take primer differently, they have different surface textures, and the junction between them will telegraph unless it is skimmed wide and feathered rather than filled at the joint. Getting a room like that to read as one continuous surface is most of the skill in the job.
