Cabinets

What's the best color for kitchen cabinets?

Warm whites, soft greens, deep navy and charcoal are the four most-requested cabinet colors in Ottawa kitchens — with two-tone (light upper, dark lower) increasingly popular in new builds.

Top choices we spray for Ottawa kitchen cabinet refinishing: Benjamin Moore White Dove (OC-17), Chantilly Lace (OC-65), Simply White (OC-117) for whites; Card Room Green (Farrow & Ball 79) or Saybrook Sage (HC-114) for greens; Hale Navy (HC-154) or Hague Blue for blues; Kendall Charcoal (HC-166) for darks.

Two-tone kitchens — white or off-white uppers with a dark or colored island and lowers — are the dominant trend in Stonebridge, Kanata Lakes and Westboro renovations.

Use a cabinet-grade alkyd or waterborne enamel (Benjamin Moore Advance, Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel). Standard wall paint will not survive daily kitchen use.
